Dr. Ball is a research coordinator at CADRE and the Veteran’s Rural Health Resource Center at the Iowa City VA Health Care System. He received his PhD in cultural anthropology from the University of Kentucky and his MPH from Tulane University. Currently, he is working on health-related research projects regarding American Indian and Alaskan Native women Veterans, women Veteran food insecurity, and antimicrobial stewardship programs. His research interests are medical and psychological anthropology, health care accessibility, health care decision-making, culture and mental health, mental and emotional distress, social determinants of health, the political economy of health care, global health, war and disasters, and Sri Lanka and South Asia.
