Dr. Carrel is a health geographer in the Department of Geographical & Sustainability Sciences at the University of Iowa. She received her PhD in Geography from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. Her research centers on exploring geographic patterns of health and disease using GIS and spatial statistical techniques. Dr. Carrel’s work with the Iowa RESEARCH Group focuses on spatiotemporal patterns of drug resistance in bacteria as well as the socioenvironmental contexts where drug resistance is observed.
